A fight occurred early Mardi Gras morning at The Boot Bar and Grill, a bar located on Broadway Street near Tulane University, which resulted in the stabbing of at least one person and several other injuries. The New Orleans Advocate reported that the fight began when an unnamed man was denied entrance into the establishment.

In response to the incident, Tulane University Police Department notified students to avoid the area, citing an “aggravated battery by cutting.” In that advisory, TUPD said that the suspect had been detained. In light of the incident, TUPD advised students to exercise caution when in crowded situations and to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
