A 30-inch water main break closed streets near Yulman Stadium on Sunday after water flooded roads that remained submerged Monday evening.

The city issued a precautionary boil water advisory for homes on Cohn St. from Lowerline St. to Audubon St. and three addresses near the 1900 block of Broadway St.

City employees worked at Audubon and Cohn to repair the 118-year-old water main on Monday. The Sewerage and Water Board closed Cohn Street from Broadway Street to Audubon Street

Audubon Street is closed from Panola Street to Hickory Street and Hickory Street from Audubon Street to Broadway Street are also closed.

Residents in nearby areas told FOX8 their homes had lower water pressure. Water service will be cut off once city employees close valves to start repairs. Those closures are expected to affect Cohn Street from S. Johnson Street to Adams Street and Audubon Street from Willow Street to S. Claiborne Avenue.

Flooding did not appear to reach Tulane’s stadiums. City officials did not report what caused the water main break and have not yet estimated how long repairs will take.

Full water pressure should return once repairs are done.
