As the 2025 NFL draft wrapped up over the weekend, two Tulane University football players heard their names called. Tulane has continued sending its best talent to the NFL, and this is the third year in a row that a Tulane player has been drafted.
The first Tulane player selected was defensive back Caleb Ransaw. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Ransaw in the third round, 88th overall. He will join forces with Heisman Winner Travis Hunter and the other defensive backs in Jacksonville. Fellow defensive back Micah Robinson was taken in the seventh round, 237th overall, by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.
Ransaw’s selection marked a historic moment, as he became the first Tulane player ever drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was also the highest-drafted Tulane player since the 2023 draft when running back Tyjae Spears was chosen 81st. The Troy University transfer made an immediate impact in his lone season with the Green Wave, recording 31 tackles, four stops for loss, a sack and three pass breakups while starting 11 games. His performance earned him All-AAC Third Team honors and invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL combine.
Robinson, who transferred from Furman University, also made the most of his single season at Tulane. The All-AAC Second Team selection started all 14 games, tallying 34 tackles, two interceptions and a team-high six passes defended.
Robinson’s selection by the Packers continues a special connection between Green Bay and Tulane. He is the 16th Green Wave player drafted by the Packers — the most by any NFL team — and follows quarterback Michael Pratt, who Green Bay chose in the seventh round just last year.
With Ransaw and Robinson both being selected, this marks the first time since 2015 that Tulane has had multiple defensive backs chosen in the same draft, when Lorenzo Doss and Taurean Nixon were both picked by the Denver Broncos.
These selections bring Tulane’s all-time NFL draft total to 152 players since the draft began in 1937. Since 2000, the Green Wave has produced 26 NFL draft picks, demonstrating the program’s consistent ability to develop professional talent despite competing in a non-Power conference.
The recent draft success parallels Tulane’s on-field accomplishments. In the past three seasons, the program has compiled an impressive 32-10 record — the fourth-best mark nationally — while making three consecutive bowl appearances and an American Athletic Conference Championship appearance.
The selections of Caleb Ransaw and Micah Robinson in the 2025 NFL draft showcased Tulane’s increasing ability to develop NFL talent. With an impressive performance over the past few seasons, Tulane football is well-positioned for continued success as it builds on its legacy in college football and beyond.
