Tulane University students will recognize the name Mussafer from the home of the Academic Advising Center, Mussafer Hall. Earlier this week, David and Marion Mussafer announced another donation to Tulane: $10 million to create a new career readiness program for undergraduates.
The David and Marion Mussafer Internship Initiative will connect students with Tulane alumni and networks for mentorship and internship opportunities. The program will have a central online portal for students to access the initiative.
“Tulane has shaped so much of who I am because of the education I received here — and it has done the same for many others,” David Mussafer said in Tulane News. “This gift is about opening that same horizon of possibility for future generations — giving every student the chance to discover their potential and take bold first steps into their careers.”
David Mussafer, originally from Alabama, applied to one university after high school: Tulane. Both his parents and his sister are also Tulane graduates. After graduating, he joined Advent International in 1990, a private equity firm where he has worked for over two decades. Marion Mussafer is a real estate investor and owner of M Home Design Group, a luxury vacation rental company based in Wyoming.
“The Mussafers’ extraordinary generosity enhances our goal of preparing Tulane graduates to become leaders who will make a positive impact on the world as they pursue their passion for collaboration, creative thinking and innovative solutions,” President Mike Fitts said.
