Looking to take your Commons crush on a romantic date in the city? These three unique spots offer diverse cuisine and atmosphere perfect for any Tulane University couple looking to share a special night.
I recently had the pleasure of sharing a birthday meal at GW Fins. I cannot express how wonderful and friendly the staff were. They prepared the table with glitter and a menu with the birthday person’s name on it. GW Fins is the perfect date spot for an anniversary, Valentine’s Day or other special occasions.
The service is next level, but the cuisine is even better. We ordered lobster dumplings to share as an appetizer, which was the highlight of the meal. The dish was quite a substantial portion for an appetizer; the sauce was rich and the lobster exquisitely tender.
For entrée, we ordered scallop carbonara and jumbo lump crab cakes. Both were excellent and worth the price. The parmesan cheese on my carbonara complemented the flavor of the scallops perfectly. The crab cakes were perfectly crispy and the presentation was beautiful.
GW Fins also gave us a complimentary birthday dessert, which was very much appreciated.
Pêche is a restaurant nobody should skip when in New Orleans. Top-tier food coupled with an upbeat vibe and aesthetically

pleasing venue, Pêche creates an environment that is hard to beat. It is ideal for couples searching for a casual lunch or an early dinner date.
Every time I am at Pêche, I do not leave without ordering the beef tartare. It is the most flavorful dish I have ever had in my life — an absolute must-try. The bread has a perfect crunch while the beef quite literally melts in your mouth. During my last visit, the beef tartar was my appetizer, but it was so incredible, I ordered another round in place of an entrée.
The vibe and ambiance of Pêche complement the food perfectly. I prefer to sit at the oyster bar and observe as the fresh food comes out. It is quite entertaining to watch your food being prepared.

German-Creole may sound like an odd fusion, but Luke more than pulls it off. This Central Business District restaurant’s ambiance is the perfect blend between casual sit-down and fine dining. The venue is always upbeat and full of energy — the perfect place for a first date.
To start, I ordered the Flammenkuchen, a German-style flatbread made from sausage and cheese. I am not usually a flatbread fan, but the uniqueness of the dish caught my eye. It turned out to be delicious.
For my entrée, I went out of my comfort zone again and ordered escargot and bone marrow. The portion was small, but what it lacked in size it made up for in flavor. The combination was so savory; I had to dip the toasted baguette that comes with the dish in the escargot sauce to soak it all up. If you have never had this famous French dish, I recommend that you rush to Luke and try it.

Are they expensive? I’m on a college budget.
