Witches Brew Coffee is a new tea and coffee shop located in Mid-City just off Canal Street, attached to the Swan River Yoga Mandir. They opened at the beginning of February, and I was able to stop by and check out their offerings.
The interior has high arches and beautiful dark green paint, with most of the seating being long, tall tables with stools. They also have a few smaller tables that seat two people. The light fixtures also had me captivated, leaning into the nature vibes of the green paint and furniture.
The menu is large, with 14 tea offerings that include matcha, chai and loose-leaf teas, as well as specialty drinks. Their food offerings vary but are limited. The only option on the day I visited was an apple flavored scone.
Their matcha is all nitro matcha on draft with latte and regular options. I went with the nitro matcha latte for $6, which comes unsweetened unless otherwise specified. It had a vibrant green color and smooth texture, with a strong flavor without being grassy. A lot of the matcha in New Orleans has been inconsistent, but being on draft, I would expect this one to be more reliable.

Their tea was the star of the show for me, with a six-ounce pour running you $5. I got an herbal tea called the Heroine, with notes of peppermint, rose, spearmint, lavender, lemon balm, yarrow, calendula and hops. Rose and lavender were the dominant flavors, with the spearmint being present but subtle to not overpower the other flavors. The strong yet balanced flavor profile made this one of my favorite teas I’ve ever tried.
If you’re looking for a new coffee shop to add to the rotation, this has a great vibe for studying. It was quiet, and the large tables lend themselves well to groups. For fellow tea fanatics, I can’t think of a place in New Orleans where I’ve had better.
