Who needs winter and carnivals when you can have spring and crawfish season instead? For me, the most wonderful time of the year means loads of crawfish on the weekends at all my favorite bars and restaurants. There are so many great crawfish spots out there — here are some of my favorites to get a few pounds of the bugs.
For those looking for a cheap and delicious crawfish option for the road, Jefferson Seafood Shack is the place to go. With crawfish priced around $6 a pound, this is a fantastic deal for juicy, spicy crawfish. They have lots of options for fixings, with the usual suspects like corn and potatoes, but also out of the box additions like turkey neck, eggs and garlic.
Much like the name implies, it is a shack, so there are no inside tables. With only one picnic table outside, this is a great grab-and-go place. I enjoy having a picnic at the park or the Fly with these crawfish, considering they are open till 7 p.m. on Fridays and 6 p.m. most other days. This might be some of the best value crawfish nearby.
Buggin’ Out Boils is a pop-up at Miel Brewery from Friday to Monday with different hours each day. Their traditional crawfish is priced at $20 for two pounds, while their specialty Viet-Cajun crawfish is $23. These prices include corn and meatballs as fixings, with garlic and green beans included in the Viet-Cajun boil. These are some of my favorite crawfish, with the garlic and green beans adding nice flavor bombs.
Buggin’ Out Boils also serves oysters, with the option to add chargrilled oysters to your order for $15 for a half dozen and $25 for a dozen. Miel is one of my favorite breweries in a great location with indoor and outdoor tables. They have lots of drink offerings — including beer and non-alcoholic drinks — and other food pop-ups for people wanting options. If you decide to stop by, check out their Instagram for updates because they sell out early most days.
Clesi’s Seafood Restaurant & Catering
For crawfish earlier in the season, Clesi’s was one of the first places to boil as early as Dec. 20, 2025. I went in mid-January when the crawfish were priced at $12.95 a pound, but they are market price, so they will likely get cheaper as we get closer into peak season. They have the usual fixings, but you must add them individually, with the option of a basic medley of one sausage, two corn and three potatoes costing $6.95 or individual a la carte options for varying prices. These were spicy and well-cooked crawfish, so I wasn’t upset by the price. They warned us that the crawfish might be on the smaller side, but I thought they were average.
Clesi’s has seating both inside and out, with large TVs that make it easy to watch live sporting events. The price is steep, but for an option that is open early in the season, it is a good spot. Check their Instagram for what days they are boiling, as they may vary.
