March 10, 2026, had sports fans nationwide asking, “What the hell just happened?”
I was playing Nintendo Wii tennis with my roommate when I got a text notification from my father that Maxx Crosby, one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL — who was recently the biggest piece in a blockbuster trade from the struggling Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens — had failed his physical for medical reasons and was being sent back to Vegas.
My roommate is a Raiders fan. He was ecstatic when he heard the news. Crosby has been arguably the only bright spot for the Raiders since the start of the 2020s.
As a Chicago Bears fan, I was also excited. The Bears had been rumored to be in the market for Crosby, and this potentially gives them another shot at trading for him, although this coming to fruition is highly unlikely.
But as much as I love the NFL, I love the NBA more.
March 10 was also the day that Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat scored 83 points in a single game — the most since the late Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.
The more you think about it, the crazier it gets.
Inflation is a term used both in economics and basketball. In basketball, though, rules have changed to make the game supposedly more offense-friendly, leading to higher scores, which is also known as inflation.
Despite this, no one, until now, has broken Bryant’s 81-point record. Even after watching the highlights — that did include a whopping 43 free throw attempts for Adebayo — it really happened.
And to those out there who are saying that Adebayo’s scoring performance was “unethical” and that he should’ve stopped at 81 out of respect for Kobe, respectfully, shut up. Eighty-three points is 83 points. Stop trying to invalidate one of the greatest scoring performances ever.
March 10 of 2026 will now undoubtedly go down as one of the most insane, unfathomable, mind-boggling sports days ever. We just witnessed one of the biggest trades in NFL history being canceled and potentially the best individual scoring performance in the NBA we will see for the rest of our lives on the same day. Sports are so awesome.

Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points against the Knicks on March 2, 1962. Long before 3 pointers existed.
