Tulane University senior Charlotte Greer is an entrepreneur making waves in the swimwear industry by navigating the space between fast fashion and often unattainable high-end swimwear brands.
Founded in 2024, Greer’s brand, CHARK Swimwear, strives to bridge the gap between affordability and high-end design, offering thoughtfully crafted and ethically sourced pieces, according to Greer.
Partnering with a manufacturing site in Bali that works exclusively with sustainable materials, Greer said that each piece is crafted with thought and care.
“They use all sustainably made materials for the suits that I get from them,” Greer said. “Their manufacturing site is all solar panels, so that is a big factor in how I chose them.”
In addition to pricing and sustainability, Greer said each design is specially selected as it suits the brand and its image.
“They [the manufacturer] have the different silhouettes [and] different patterns that kind of gives us the critical opportunity to go in and mix and match and choose something that fits what we’re looking for,” Greer said.
Balancing school, setting up a full-time job and a start-up swimwear brand, Greer hopes to continue growing the brand while maintaining a good work-life balance. CHARK is opening a retail store in San Diego to widen its customer base and was recently featured in Vanity Fair UK’s spring 2026 edition.
“Right now, we’re just seeing what happens…,” said Greer. “But the goal is definitely to continue growing CHARK.”
