
Susan Davies will serve as the dean of Tulane University’s School of Social Work, Tulane announced on Friday, April 23. Davies has served as the school’s interim dean since the summer of 2024.
Davies has a Ph.D. in health education and promotion from the University of Alabama and an M.Ed. from George Mason University. Before coming to Tulane, she directed the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s CDC-funded Prevention Research Center and worked at the Center for AIDS Research, Minority Health Center and Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences.
Tulane’s School of Social Work, which is the seventh-oldest in the country and ranked No. 28 among the best social work programs, offers a Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership, a Master of Social Work and a Doctor of Social Work.
