Due to inclement weather and high winds, Thursday night’s lineup of parades has been postponed.

Muses will now roll Friday at 4:45 p.m., and Babylon will follow. Chaos will roll on Sunday after Thoth, according to NOLA Ready. The rescheduled parades will only feature floats and not marching bands or dance groups.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory in Orleans Parish from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. NWS predicts sustained winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts that could reach a high of 40 miles per hour tonight.

Tonight’s postponements came at the request of New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson who cited safety concerns. The announcement comes in the wake of Wednesday’s tragic news that a parade-goer was killed after being struck by a float during Nyx.

“The krewes of Babylon, Chaos, and Muses have been informed and have chosen time slots on alternative dates to reschedule their parades,” reads a press release from NOPD. “Because of the packed parade schedule this weekend, the rescheduled parades will be floats only, with no additional elements like bands or marching groups.”
