Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards delivered the keynote speech at the 27th annual Tulane Environmental Law & Policy Summit on March 11.

Edwards spoke about his Climate Action Plan, approved in January by his Climate Initiatives Task Force. Louisiana’s climate action plan is its first ever, and Edwards’ goal is to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Edwards recognized oil and gas cannot be eliminated and plans to work with these industries instead of against them. Edwards envisions wind turbines next to oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico in the future, among other initiatives.
