Two men were shot near Xavier University on the night of April 9, yet another incident of violence to the local community in a weekend scarred by shootings across the city.

The men were wounded in the 8100 block of Palmetto Street. The shooting happened near the Costco Wholesale on that block and about six blocks from Rock‘n’Bowl — a popular destination for Tulane students.

Elsewhere in New Orleans, violence continued. Eighteen were shot in total last weekend, and six of those people died. Those are the highest rates in a 72-hour period the city has seen in 10 years.
