An individual not affiliated with Tulane University was shot and killed by two subjects near the university’s Downtown campus last night, around 1 a.m., according to a timely warning issued by the Tulane University Police Department this morning.
The shooting occurred near the H.E.A.L. garage at 300 LaSalle Street, less than two blocks from Caesars Superdome.
Police believe the shooters were driving a silver vehicle. No other details about the suspects have been released at this time.
In a separate incident, around 2 a.m., one person was killed and three more were injured in a shooting in the 100 block of Bourbon Street.
Police described the shooting as a “shootout” that escalated from a dispute. The victim, a 33-year-old Chicago native, was hit in the crossfire. The victim’s sibling was also injured in the shooting, according to New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
There have been two other homicides in the city this weekend, in addition to the two last night.
The shootings are currently under investigation by NOPD.
