The College Football Playoff ranking committee seeded the Tulane University Green Wave No. 11 on Sunday morning, sending the team to the playoffs for the first time in program history.
Tulane, ranked No. 20 by the committee, earned the fourth-highest ranking among conference champions, having beaten the University of North Texas in the American Conference Championship on Friday night.
Tulane is set to play No. 6 University of Mississippi on Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m. CST in Oxford, Mississippi, a rematch of the Sept. 20 game earlier this season in which the Green Wave lost 45-10.
Ole Miss will be led by new head coach Pete Golding, after former head coach Lane Kiffin left the Rebels for Louisiana State University earlier this season.
Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall will stay with Tulane through the college football playoffs before leaving to take up his new post at the University of Florida, while the coaching search continues for next season.
