Attempted car burglars opened fire on a parked pick-up truck near Tulane University near  Joseph and Willow Streets early Saturday morning, according to witness reports. 

The suspects were allegedly startled by a mannequin with a Michael Myers mask sitting in the passenger seat of the truck, unloading about 20 bullets after encountering the inanimate figure.

Michael Myers is the fictional serial killer in the horror film series “Halloween.”

The truck owner reported using the mannequin to deter possible burglars. The owner’s home and two additional vehicles were also hit in the shooting. 

Residents saw the suspects traveling down the road and breaking into other vehicles before reaching the truck. 

The suspects fled the crime in a silver Nissan Altima, according to a New Orleans Police Department report. No arrests have been made.
