Tulane University’s Green Wave baseball team has 21 wins and 21 losses with a few weeks left in the regular season. The team has thrived playing at Turchin Stadium, winning 14 games and losing six. 

Being on the road has proven to be much more challenging: The Green Wave has won seven and lost 14. In conference play, the Green Wave has won seven and lost eight.

Statistically, Jason Wachs leads the team with an outstanding batting average of .340 and an equally impressive OPS of 1.044. As a team, Tulane has an OPS of .771.

Tulane’s batting average is .254, lower than the opponents’ average of .262. Power hitting has also been one of their weaknesses. The Green Wave has hit 26 home runs this season. 

Meanwhile, opponents have hit 41 home runs.

On the defensive side, pitchers Trey Cehajic and J.D. Rodriguez have each pitched 43.1 innings, the most on the team. Despite the high number of innings, Rodriguez has a remarkable ERA of 3.53. 

The team’s ERA is 5.03, which is great given the opponents have an ERA of 6.40.

Ultimately, Tulane’s baseball program is doing well but falling short of high expectations. The good news is the season is not over yet. 

This weekend, the Green Wave will play the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners at home. After that, the Green Wave will face the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to finish the month.

In May, Tulane will face the Charlotte 49ers, Louisiana State Tigers, South Florida Bulls and Rice Owls. Those games will provide a better sense of how Tulane compares to other teams heading into the conference tournament. 

Tulane won the American Conference Championship in 2023 and 2024 and was the runner-up in 2025. The goal is to appear in the conference championship for the fourth consecutive year.
