New Orleans Police Department has arrested a suspect for a series of burglaries in the Uptown area, according to a Jan. 21 press release. Tulane University Police Department Superintendent Jon Barnwell confirmed that the suspect, Oliver Jerde, is a Tulane student.

22-year-old Jerde was found removing items from a house on the 800 block of Pine Street at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 21, when NOPD officers arrived at the scene in response to a call about a person breaking into the house. NOPD arrested Jerde without incident and later searched his residence on the 800 block of Lowerline Street. They discovered items reported missing from burglaries in the neighborhood.

Jerde is booked on two incidents of aggravated burglary for Jan. 17 burglaries on the 1000 and 1200 blocks of Lowerline, and one incident of residential burglary for the Jan. 21 burglary on the 800 block of Pine Street.

NOPD’s Second District is investigating the case.
